How a High School Drama Teacher Changed the Trajectory of Monica Lewinsky's Life

It’s no secret that people are fascinated by affairs.

In my opinion, the main reason is because despite so many people having affairs, they are still largely kept secret.

So when we find out about one, we are engrossed in the scandal of it all, and the gossip mill starts churning.

In addition, my podcast data confirms the curiosity about affairs, as any episode I have released with any sort of affair discussion, is one of my most popular.

This got me thinking about affairs in general and how they don’t discriminate.

Affairs are not unique to any time, space or location. Not to any age, race, gender or creed.

Affairs have been happening since the beginning of time! (There are affairs on record since before Jesus walked the earth).

All this to say, I am very excited to share the new series I launched, “Affairs Through the Ages”.

This series of episodes will dive into one documented affair per week, and I will add my thoughts and anecdotal experience, and share this with all of you.

My regularly scheduled Thursday episodes will remain the same, either solos or conversations with guests who have a wealth of knowledge on a variety of relationship topics.

For the first episode, I talked about what is arguably the most well known affair of the 20th century, Bill Clinton & Monica Lewinsky.

I was in college when this hit the news in 1998. We all remember the dress, the cigar, the famous quote, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman.", but there was so, so much more.

Did you know that Monica had an affair with a high school drama teacher one year after she graduated from high school? That he not only moved his family from LA to Oregon in order to continue the affair with Monica, but he also had her babysit for his children and was ok with her becoming best friends with his wife?

I didn’t.

So in this episode, I wondered, had that first affair not happened, and Monica had a normal college experience, would this affair with Clinton even have happened?
